Fans of The Broken Circle will be pleased to note that we spent the past weekend dyeing Potluck Yarn for Yarns of the Knitting Witches. We dyed 60 kits for the Fire and Ice Shawl Knit Along which starts March 15th at The Knitter’s Edge. If you haven’t seen the shawl, it is the mystery pattern on the back cover of the Companion Pattern Book. I will be at The Knitter’s Edge to sign books and pass out kits when the event launches. If you haven’t had a chance to see the garments, don’t fret! I will have them all with me.
We also dyed 20 more Smokey Jo’s Smoken Cowl kits in the colorway Smoken for JoAnne Turcotte who owns The Knitter’s Edge. In The Broken Circle, the character of Smokey Jo is based on JoAnne. Smokey Jo is a knitting witch and is pictured on the front cover of the novel.
For the first time, we have dyed the yarns for both of the felted bag kits: Lilac Lily’s Going to Market Bag and Winter Wheat’s Felted Backpack. We will have these kits available later in the week as well as a nice selection of luck of the dyepot handpainted Potluck Bulky Wool.
Speaking of luck of the dyepot–Gail, a student from one of my Dyeing to Knit workshops stopped in with a sample of what she was knitting with some of the Supersock Merino dk she dyed in class. She has been making all sorts of gifts for family and friends. This one will be a cabled hat SHOW PIX. If any of you would like to take my Dyeing to Knit workshop, we do have a few spaces left in session 3 which is just before Rhinebeck. Click here to sign up. All we need right now is a deposit to hold your space.
If you can’t make the workshop, you can take my Creating Colorways dye workshop at your leisure. This is my first ever online class and has just been uploaded to CraftArtEdu Preview it for free, and then decide if you’d like to take the workshop. Any dyes or supplies you may need are available at The Supersock Store. If you’re just getting started, I recommend the Sampler Dye Kit, which is the biggest bang for your buck.
I’d love to chat some more, but I have dye pots bubbling in my studio next door. I’ll post some of the new colors later this week!
