After two days of trying to fly out from Burlington Vermont to Arizona in one of the worst snow storms of the year, Cheryl and Tim finally made it into Phoenix at 1 am Friday morning.
Cheryl’s first event was a book signing and discussion of “The Broken Circle” at the La Cholla Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Foothills Mall in Tucson at 9:30 a.m. If you did not get to the event, she did sign all of the remaining books and you are welcome to pick up a signed copy there.
At lunchtime, Cheryl went to the Henderson Elementary School in the foothills to talk to six graders about writing and to sign books for the kids and the school library. Kids, if you did not get a signed copy of the book but still want one, Miss Fuga did take a few extra copies, plus she is going to put one in the school library that you can check out.
From 3-5 pm Cheryl appeared at Purls, a wonderful yarn shop on West Broadway on the east side of Tucson, where she gave a reading from “The Broken Circle” and had an improptu fashion show with the knitters that attended. If anyone would like to see the garments or touch the yarns, Purls will be hosting a “Broken Circle” trunk show all next week. They sold out of the “Companion Pattern Books” during the event but are placing an additional order this week, along with orders for any other kits or yarns you would like. Stop by to try on one of the garments!
Friday night, Cheryl SO wanted to watch the Arizona Wildcats trounce Colorado at the NCAA Pack 12 finals, but she was only able to make it through half of the game before going back to her hotel. To her relief, Arizona did win the game anyway, without her help.
We’ll get you another update soon.
