Dyeing to Knit Letter

Dear Dyeing to Knit Participants:

Thank you so much for helping us launch the first set of Dyeing to Knit workshops at the Hanson House Retreat Center in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I taught three back to back weekends of workshops with a finale this past weekend that included a guest lecturer and teacher, plus a filmed bonus class.

The Hanson House fall retreat schedule will have a new line up of workshops in 2014. Here is our tentative breakdown:

The Hanson House Fiber Series #1 Dying to Dye September 26-29

This Peak Week end of September retreat is an intensive 3 day dye workshop with Cheryl Potter, founder of Cherry Tree Hill. Students will be able to explore handpainting a variety of yarns from cottons to wools, hard to find blends and exotic fibers in a one on one setting. The workshop runs September 26-29 and is open to 6 students only for 3 days of guided studio time. We can help you source hard to find fibers and have them ready for you ahead of the workshop. The only prerequisite is that you must have had experience with commercial dyes before.

The Hanson House Fiber Series #2 Workshop TBA October 3-6

This retreat is currently open and we are negotiating with several well-known teachers for a weekend filled with fiber and fun. If you have a favorite instructor, we welcome your suggestions.

The Hanson House Fiber Series #3 Technique and Tech October 10-13

This retreat takes place just before Rhinebeck explores new ways of knitting intarsia and learning knitCompanion, featuring co-instructors Anne Berk and Sally Holt. Anne Berk will teach a version of intarsia she calls Annetarsia and Sally Holt, creator of knitCompanion will teach knitCompanion, using a special pattern designed by Anne Berk just for the retreat as one of her examples.

Let us know if you have interest in any of these upcoming events and thank you so much for making Dyeing to Knit a success. This winter we plan to finish furnishing the Hanson House, and add upgrades such as a full guest kitchen with dishwasher and gas stove, additional seating in the dining rooms and on the porch, cable, WIFI, and much more!
