The second session of the Dyeing to Knit Retreat began on Friday. These photos were taken at the round table discussion led by Cheryl Potter at Cherry Tree Hill. Friday was a full day of exploring the different ways yarn can be handpainted and how to create personalized colorways. Students followed the “paper trail”of a colorway and then were encouraged to develop colorways using two different dye techniques they had learned in the workshop.
The Friday night event was a reading and trunk show from Cheryl’s new fantasy novel The Broken Circle and Companion Pattern Book.
Saturday knitting part of the retreat begins with Donna Druchunas,in which students explore lace knitting using the yarns they handpainted the day before themselves! The afternoon field trip will take them to a local alpaca farm. Keep checking back, we’ll keep you posted!
