Field Trip to Log Cabin Alpacas

Once again John and Jane of Log Cabin Alpacas hosted a tour of their Alpaca farm in West Glover, Vermont for Dyeing to Knit #3 students and teachers. This is the final tour of the year for the retreat and John and Jane demonstrated such arcane acts as Orgling and how to separate second cut from the first on a skirting table.

There were a few new babies to pet and other alpaca eager for attention. Although the peak colors of fall are gone, it was a beautiful afternoon to walk around the alpaca farm. Some students could not resist the beautiful yarns, rovings, and rugs in the small, quaint shop or finished products such as hats and gloves.

Winter’s coming! We want to thank everyone who helped us with the field trips for the retreats and look forward to more next year.
