Flooding In Vermont

Flooding01 Each spring, the river behind my house floods and it always leaves treasures behind when the water recedes. This week we’ve had flooding throughout Vermont with road closures, water filled basements and people kayaking down the streets of Burlington.

Flooding03 My husband and I live on a farm, and oftentimes the water comes up to and sometimes inside of our old dairy barn. Last year my husband caught a record breaking river trout just after the flood ended and the year before that, we found a Kenmore Easy Bake oven and three telephone poles in our field when the water went down. You never know what the river will leave behind.

Much like the fossickers, my husband and I roam the riverbanks after the flood has crested, looking for interesting things the rushing water left behind.
