Hanson House Retreat Center Update

At long last the Hanson House renovation project is almost done, just in time for our Dyeing to Knit retreats. It has taken a year and a half to renovate this beautiful old farmhouse into a retreat center. The house features 5 bedrooms and 4 baths with guest common areas and classroom space all on 8 acres adjoining the county fairgrounds and directly on the VAST trail.

Even better, there is a separate commercial kitchen that can be used for catered events. Extreme care has been taken to keep the farmhouse original. Layers and layers of vinyl and carpet flooring were taken up to reveal the original wide board pine floors which have been refinished, plus we have preserved tin ceilings, original molding and floor to ceiling windows. We even found a buffet hidden inside the wall and a secret room behind a closet.

With the first retreat just 3 weeks away, we’ve been shopping for furniture—mostly new, but we did find some nice antiques to provide finishing touches. The Hanson House will be available for hire throughout the year for events such as family gatherings, weddings, birthday parties, ski weekends and the like. If anyone is interested, contact us!

Here are some recently snapped shots of both the Hanson House and the Annex (a second house close to the Hanson House where other guests will be housed during retreats). As you can see, construction is almost completed, and some rooms are even furnished! Click each photo to see it bigg-i-fied :D
