How To Use a Beading Hook

Here is a step by step explanation of how to use a beading hook from our own Sharon Mooney, co author of Amazing Lace, due out next year.  Now that Sharon has her Hiyahiya hook courtesy of Mary Moran from Hiya, we’ll be showing you a series of tips and tricks used to apply beads to finished garments.

Step 1: hook loaded with up to 4 beads
Step 2: hook top of next stitch
Step 3: take stitch off needle using hook
Step 4: use fingers and keeping tension on stitch, pull bead down over stitch
Step 5: replace stitch onto left hand needle
Step 6: remove hook from stitch
Step 7: knit beaded stitch
Step 8: beaded stitch is now finished
