The Broken Circle: Behind the Scenes With the Photo Shoot Crew

Yesterday we wrapped up our photo shoot for the Broken Circle Companion Pattern Book.  One of our web guys came along to give you some behind the scenes shots plus a short video. This was a full day shoot at 4 separate venues:  a wooded glen along a river, a horse farm, Willoughby Lake and a graveyard.Joel, the photographer, has to use a step ladder for some shots and lay on the ground for others.

Standing on a ladder to shoot The author, Cheryl, has the model, Claire, do some role playing, describing paces in the book where she would have come into contact with each magical garment.  Claire has to imagine what it would be like to be potluck queen Aubergine, or Mamie Verde, who clings to life by a thread or Sierra Blue.

None of the witches would ever look Middlefolk in the eye if they wished to pass unseen–so we asked our model to always look away from the camera. The garments looked beautiful – and the model did a great job following the storyline.

We hope you like our outtakes!
